If you’re a reader of gailatlarge.com, you might be wondering: why a separate photoblog? Isn’t Gail at Large — dot com — mostly a photoblog, anyway? Well, sort of. There are plenty of photos there, but the site began in 2002 without photos and was originally meant to be a place for me to write. Over the years, photo sharing sites like Flickr sprang up and gave bloggers an easy way to add photos. The templates which keep my blog organised aren’t really optimal for showing photos in a large size, however, and as my photographic equipment is ghastly expensive improves I want to display the photos in the manner which they deserve. With over 3,000 posts as of halfway through 2009, I plan to continue writing but prefer to show my images in a fuller screen width. Rather than make the text and photos fight it out over screen space, I’m giving them each a domain. Also, gailatlarge.com will host other media such as video, leaving gailatlarge.net with a clutter-free interface.
Both sites will feature text and photos, but gailatlarge.com’s maximum photo width is only 500 pixels. You should view photos here because they’ll be twice the size. I’ll write a bit here, too, to provide some info about the photo but I prefer to let the images speak for themselves.
